The Downtown Windsor BIA (DWBIA) is thrilled to accept a 2021 Achievement Award granted by Festival Events Ontario.
FEO acknowledged the DWBIA’s efforts to adapt, pivot and evolve its Winter Fest programming in 2020, and recognized their courage and ingenuity in supporting the community during the height of the pandemic.
“We’re thrilled to have been granted this award for Winter Fest 2020 in recognition of our commitment to support the health, safety and wellbeing of our community, particularly in response to the pandemic,” says DWBIA Chair Brian Yeomans. “We’ve done — and continue to do — our best to promote a positive public image for our businesses and workplaces in the downtown core.”
The FEO Achievement Award acknowledges that the DWBIA, through its Winter Fest programming, went above and beyond to uplift the community and create an enjoyable collection of programs that connected audiences to one another, highlighting the spirit of the season and showcased much that Downtown Windsor has to offer.
Winter Fest 2020 was conducted safely and responsibly, with much of the programming delivered virtually. The DWBIA successfully created, promoted and executed virtual Santa Meet and Greets, Letters to Santa, holiday lighting, window displays, a gingerbread house competition, a Shop Local Campaign, and a variety of promotional videos highlighting downtown merchants, local artists, chefs, mixologists and more.
(Editors Note: The Town of Amherstburg also picked up Festival Events Ontario Achievement Awards for their Amherstburg River Lights Festival and Amherstburg Uncommon Festival.)
The 2021 FEO Awards were handed out in February during the FEO Virtual Summit 2021.
