Organizer Anita Imperioli is amazed by local community generosity at The 18th Annual In Honour of the Ones We Love Gala which took place at the Ciociaro Club on Saturday, February 6, 2016.
This high profile gala organized by Anita Imperioli, founder of In Honour of the Ones We Love, and a group of dedicated volunteers supports cancer care and other life threating illnesses for patents in the Windsor Essex area. This year’s event was a success and completely sold out.
The evening featured champagne and hors d’ouevres cocktail hour sponsored by Koolini’s, a seven course gourmet dinner, a martini bar and a silent auction and raffle-funds to benefit Windsor Regional Hospital Ronald McDonald House.
Each year this annual event pays tribute to individuals who have lost their battle with cancer.
This year’s honourees were Tony Catalano, John Meloche, Roger Salter, Maiysn Spencer, and Ivan Janes. A moving candle lighting ceremony along with a tribute video was the key element of the event and offered everyone a chance to reflect on their collective losses and their relentless determination to support those coping with the devastating consequences of these life threatening illnesses.
Mimmo Casagrande Bei of Koolini received the prestigious Hand and Hand award presented annually to a member of the community who, over time, has had a significant impact on the success of In Honour of the Ones We Love. Mimmo has been involved with the organization throughout the years and has been a devoted and dedicated supporter.
The Community Recognition award is presented to an individual whose friendship, belief and support of In Honour over the years has contributed to the success of the event and projects for the community. This year’s recipient was John Fairley Vice President of Communications of St. Clair College.
The Above and Beyond Award is presented to individuals with a generous heart who are there for us at all times. This year’s award recipients were Cathy Hendy and Dan Castellan.
Since 1998, In Honour of the Ones We Love, Inc. has established itself as one of Windsor Essex County’s most successful volunteer fundraising organizations. Since its inception the dedicated volunteers from this organization have raised more than $7,000,000 to improve local cancer patient care, including the creation and continuing support of the Honourable Little Ninja’s program – Kids Beating Cancer.
