Hummazing to Appear on CBC’s Dragons’ Den

It’s official Hummazing, located in Devonshire Mall, has been selected by producers to face the business tycoons from CBC’s Dragons’ Den. On January 24, 2013 producers of Dragons’ Den stopped in Windsor, one of 40 Canadian cities, to hold auditions for the show. Hummazing, a Lebanese style restaurant famous for their signature line of flavored hummus and healthy Middle Eastern cuisine pitched their business concept. Yesterday Hummazing posted on Facebook that they’ve been selected to appear on the show.

We caught up with one of the co-owners and he confirmed Hummazing was notified and will face the Dragons’ Den when they film in Toronto this season. If their business pitch impresses the Dragons’ then Hummazing will secure funding and the Dragons’ business expertise to take this flavourful Windsor based restaurant concept to the next level.

Last season several Windsor Essex entrepreneurs appeared on the show. They include Maria Latouf of posture aid necklace, Maxine Ebegbuzie pitching her novelty car eyelash product, and our friends Mark and Kyle of Stilt Guys. It was ammusing to see Kyle throw a karate kick in the air at the Dragon’s after their pitch was not accepted. It was all in good fun.

This season we are happy to see another great local business have the opportunity to make their pitch. Can you believe this business started with two flavours of hummus produced in a basement kitchen here in Windsor? We’ve enjoyed Hummazing on several occassions and predict after tasting the amazing shish tawook, fatoosh, or flavoured hummus the Dragon’s will jump at the chance to invest. Of course the business concept, including the chick pea dotted letter “i” on their sign, will give an extra edge to Hummazing on The Dragon’s Den.
