Fun Things to Do at The First Annual Colchester Village Festival

Colchester VillagefestThe weather forecast looks perfect for the first annual Colchester Villagefest taking place from August 9th to 11th The festival is a celebration of summer in Essex County on the shores of Lake Erie overlooking the beautiful Colchester Harbour marina and beach. This family event has something for adults and children to enjoy. Camp All Weekend Long

Camping at a festival is new to our region and Colchester Villagefest is the first to bring it to Windsor Essex County. For the first time you can stay at a festival all day and all night. Dry camp sites are located one block from the festival at the Old Colchester School with port-a-potty toilets. Of course showers will be available too for freshening up. Snorkeling Lessons and Shipwreck Exploration

Drexler Diving Systems will be offering snorkeling lessons and tours of the recently discovered shipwreck off Colchester Harbor. Drexler discovered the ship and in a recent article published in The Essex Free Press says it is a side paddlewheel wooden steamship from the 1800’s. Car Show Sponsored by Moe’s Smokehouse

The first annual Colchester Villagefest Car Show is sponsored by and takes place at Moe’s Smokehouse. This gives car owners the opportunity to show off their cool rides to the public.

Motorcycle Show and Shine

On August 11th The Colchester Bar and Grill will host the Cholchester Villagefest Motorcycle Show and Shine. So bring your ride to a gathering of what might be the start of the next Port Dover!

Children’s Tent and Magic Show

Fun for the kids includes a children’s tent with activities and a magic show by Bill Nuvo.

Local Eats, Local Essex County Wine, and Walkerville Brewery Beer

Some of Essex County’s best restaurants will be available offering locally grown and prepared food to enjoy on the waterfront including newcomer Smashed Apples Catering and Food Truck. Other favourites include the Firegrill Steak & Seafood restaurant, Mettawas Station Mediterranean Restaurant, Kings Hotel, The Main Grill and Ale House, Koi Sushi, and Colchester Bar and Grill.

Essex County Wineries include D’Angelo Estate Winery, Viewpointe Estate Winery, Aleksander Estate Winery, Cooper’s Hawk Vineyards, Paglione Estate Winery, Sprucewood Shores Estate Winery, Pelee Island Winery, North 42 Degrees, and Muscedere Vineyards.

Walkerville Brewery will also be on site serving locally micro-brewed beer from their historic brewery.

Live Musical Entertainment

For centuries people have come together in celebration with the trinity of food, drinks and music. At Colchester Villagefest a stellar line up of live music will play all weekend long. Featured bands include: Juno nominated Canadian band Cuff the Duke, 80’s Inc, Billy Raffoul, Nemesis, Eccentric Band, Karen Morand & Bosco, Prairie Siding(Country/Bluegrass) and many more.
