Women’s March Anniversary Rally Windsor 2018
January 20 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Women’s March Canada in solidarity with women and human rights groups will be holding rallies around the world including in Windsor at City Hall Square on January 20, 2018.
The Women’s March was a worldwide protest on January 21, 2017, to advocate legislation and policies regarding human rights and other issues, including women’s rights, immigration reform, healthcare reform, reproductive rights, the natural environment, LGBTQ rights, racial equality, freedom of religion, and workers’ rights. Most of the rallies were aimed at Donald Trump, immediately following his inauguration as President of the United States, largely due to statements that he had made and positions that he had taken which were regarded by many as anti-women or otherwise offensive. It was the largest single-day protest in U.S. history.
Women’s March Canada – Windsor would like to acknowledge that the land on which we gather is the traditional territory of the Attawandaron (Neutral), Anishnaabeg, and Haudenosaunee peoples.
WE MARCH AGAIN ~ in solidarity with women and human rights groups from across the world we will be marching again to show that the progress made in 2017 was not enough. There is still so much work to do to protect and advance the rights of women, and the rights of all vulnerable citizens in our country.
Women’s organizations in Windsor with the organizers of last year’s Women’s March invite you to save the date for a timely conversation about women’s issues and practical tools for community organizing and lobbying in Windsor.
