The Vagina Monologues Presented by Windsor Law
February 13 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Windsor Law presents their 11th Annual Vagina Monologues at The Capitol Theatre on February 13, 2019.
This award-winning play is based on V-Day Founder/playwright Eve Ensler’s interviews with more than 200 women.
Hailed by The New York Times as “funny” and “poignant” and by the Daily News as “intelligent” and “courageous,” The Vagina Monologues, which was first performed off-Broadway by Ms. Ensler, dives into the mystery, humor, pain, power, wisdom, outrage and excitement buried in women’s experiences. Ms. Ensler has performed the play to great acclaim throughout the world – from Zagreb to Santa Barbara, from London to Seattle, from Jerusalem to Oklahoma City.
“Ensler breaks taboos by talking, talking and talking some more—stripping fear and shame from what she celebrates here. It makes for quite a party. Funny, outrageous, emotionally affecting, and occasionally angry…The Vagina Monologues confront words to demystify and disarm them. In so doing, Ensler disarms the audience too.”
With humor and grace the piece celebrates women’s sexuality and strength. It hopes to enlighten and empower both the audience and the cast members through a thought provoking and emotional journey.
The show will feature testimonies written by members of the Windsor-Essex community.
All proceeds from the show support the Windsor Essex Sexual Assault Crisis Centre and and the V-Day Spotlight Campaign.
90% of proceeds go to support the Windsor Essex Sexual Assault Crisis Centre, which provides a number of services for adults and youth.
The remaining 10% of proceeds go to support V-Day’s Spotlight Campaign, which this year is Women in Prison, Detention Centres, and Formerly Incarcerated Women.
Doors open at 8:00 pm.
