TELUS Ride For Dad 2018 | Windsor Essex
May 27 @ 7:00 am - 6:00 pm
Windsor’s TELUS Motorcycle Ride For Dad in support of prostate cancer awareness takes place on Sunday, May 27, 2018.
The Executive Committee is pleased to announce that Windsor / Lasalle native and drummer of the Tea Party, Jeff Burrows, will be this year’s celebrity ride captain! Burrows is always a busy man not only rockin’ fans around the world but right here locally supporting and fundraising for charity organizations in need.
This year’s Windsor ride will begin at Festival Plaza and the parade of motorcycles will proceed through Essex County with stops along the way including Royal Canadian Legion Branch 167 (Amherstburg), Colchester Bar & Grill (Colchester), Freddy’s (Leamington) and Mr. Biggs (Lakeshore). This is a poker run so not only do the top 5 participants with the most money raised receive a prize, but so do 5 participants with the best poker hands.
The riders will then return to Windsor’s Festival Plaza for a steak dinner and entertainment provided by local bands.
Pre-registration is available online at www.RideForDad.ca/Windsor and will also take place the day before on Saturday, May 26 from 11am-4pm at Thunder Road Harley-Davidson located at 2139 Huron Church Rd in Windsor.
First 500 riders get a FREE meal ticket!
Ride day registration takes place from 7:00am-9:30am.
Kickstands Up at 10am Sharp!
The fee to participate in the ride is $30 or by collecting at least $100 in pledges. For every $100 in pledges collected, registered riders will get an entry into a draw for a chance to win a 15 day African motorcycle adventure valued at $12,000.
The public (those who don’t ride a motorcycle) are invited to join the fun at the ride’s final stop, Windsor’s Riverfront Festival Plaza. The venue will feature vendors, food and kids friendly activities. Organizers are accepting donations for entry.
The ride will be a day of fun for a serious cause. Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed men’s cancer. One in seven Canadian men will be diagnosed with this disease, and twelve will die from it today. 90% of prostate cancer can be successfully treated if detected early.
Proceeds support the Prostate Cancer Fight Foundation.
This ride attracts approximately one thousand motorcycle enthusiasts from our region that want to give back to their community, but non-riders can get involved by making a donation, or volunteering at the event.
The TELUS Motorcycle Ride For Dad is Canada’s largest annual motorcycle event dedicated to fighting prostate cancer through research and awareness. From its humble beginnings, the Ride For Dad has grown to include almost 40 cities in every province in the country. Since 2000, the TELUS Ride For Dad has donated more than 27 million dollars to the Prostate Cancer Fight Foundation, to support prostate cancer research and awareness in the communities where the funds were raised!
Motorcycle riders, prostate cancer patients and their families, and non-riders can learn more about participating and donating by visiting www.RideForDad.ca/Windsor
