Memphis The Musical Presented by ACT Windsor
April 17 @ 8:00 pm - April 19 @ 4:30 pm
Arts Collective Theatre (ACT Windsor) presents Memphis The Musical, an original story of love, soul, and rock & roll, for the first time ever in Windsor at the Capitol Theatre on April 17, 18, 19, 24, 25 & 26, 2020.
From the company that produced the groundbreaking DREAMGIRLS (2018), HAIR (2018), and THE WIZ (2019), the ACT Board of Directors have chosen to produce MEMPHIS, the 2010 TONY AWARD WINNER FOR BEST MUSICAL, because of its high-energy, non-stop dancing, original story (based on true events), about bravery and love set against the backdrop of the civil rights movement. They promise Memphis will be a production Windsor-Essex residents won’t want to miss!
In the smoky halls and underground clubs of Memphis, Tennessee in the segregated ’50s, a young white DJ named Huey Calhoun falls in love with everything he shouldn’t: rock ‘n roll and an electrifying black singer named Felicia Farrell. MEMPHIS is an original story about fame, forbidden love, and the cultural revolution that erupted when his vision met her voice – and the music changed forever.
Come along on their incredible journey to the ends of the airwaves– filled with laughter, soaring emotion and roof-raising rock ‘n’ roll.
Memphis bursts off the stage with explosive dancing, irresistible songs and a thrilling tale of fame and forbidden love.
Winner of four 2010 Tony Awards including Best Musical and two 2015 Olivier Awards, MEMPHIS features a Tony-winning book by Joe DiPietro and a Tony-winning original score with music by Bon Jovi founding member David Bryan.
