About the Event

Visitors are invited to step back in time to the 17th and 18th century and life in the Town of LaSalle, the oldest continuous European settlement in Ontario, and experience encampment life along the shores of the Detroit River.

New to the Town of LaSalle, Rendez-vous Voyageur will commemorate their Francophone heritage and culture, including French explorer René-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle, who helped to establish the early trading routes and settlement areas along the Detroit River. Visitors will enjoy an authentic early French settler encampment experience and learn more about the life and history of the Anishinaabe Natives and the Métis.

Rendez-vous Voyageur is a two-day living history festival that will feature authentic re-enactments, interactive displays and a wide range of demonstrations! Come ready to explore a voyageur encampment, make a birchbark canoe, participate in an ancient lacrosse game, taste traditional cuisine, shop unique merchants and experience the French and First Nations cultures from 300+ years ago.
