The Windsor Essex County Sports Hall of Fame and Biz X Magazine presents Kidsport Windsor Family Day on Monday February 18 at The WFCU Centre. Kids aged 5 to 12 years old will enjoy mingling with local sports heroes and an afternoon of sport activities including basketball, gymnastics, basketball, volleyball, and lacrosse. Food, refreshments, and guest speakers are also planned for the event. Admission is free, active wear is required, and everyone is welcome.
KidSport Windsor, the new charitable arm of the Windsor Essex County Sports Hall of Fame, officially launches on Family Day. The mission of this wonderful organization is to assist under resourced Windsor area children and youth to participate in organized sports. The new program is joint collaboration between the Windsor/Essex County Sports Hall of Fame and the City of Windsor’s Recreation and Culture Department.
In a recent radio interview KidSport Windsor co-director Chuck Smith told AM800CKLW’s Arms Bumanlag that “one third of children who want to play sports can’t afford it.” The fund raising efforts of KidSport Windsor aims to reduce this financial barrier for children in our area. After all says co-chair Jeremy Renaud, “no kid should be left on the sidelines.”
The Windsor/Essex County Sports Hall of Fame is committed to celebrating and sharing the rich history of our sports heritage and culture throughout Windsor-Essex County.
So come on out and enjoy KidSport Windsor Family Day with the Kids at The WFCU Centre.
