Athletes and amateur thrill seekers interested in finding out more about the 2018 South Coast Adventure Race (SCAR) are welcome to attend a free Introduction to Adventure Racing Workshop to help them decide if the event is for them. The workshop is scheduled for February 20, 2018 at 6pm at the WFCU Centre in Windsor.
The information workshop gives people interested in learning more a chance to take a crash course on the sport of adventure racing.
Rob and Andrew Pula will tell attendees everything they need to know to compete in an adventure race. The brothers are long-time adventure athletes with dozens of races under their belts. They will share their wealth of experience on a range of topics, from proper race navigation and nutrition to required equipment and training. The pair will also answer any questions newcomers may have before making the decision to take on this year’s SCAR.
“Once again we’re planning a South Coast Adventure Race course that will highlight some of our region’s most stunning natural places,” says Race Director Danielle Stuebing. “It will be great for both first-time and long-time adventure athletes interested in testing their mettle at the annual multi-sport event, which includes trekking, orienteering, cycling, and paddling throughout the Essex Region’s conservation areas and natural spaces.”
The workshop is free, but space is limited. Participants can register online at www.scarworkshop.eventbrite.ca.
The South Coast Adventure Race happens on June 16, and a limited number of early bird discounts are still available. The SCAR is a beginner to intermediate-level adventure race, designed to be completed in under 8 hours. Click here for more information about the race.
