Never Again! Weekend Program of Events Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the End of World War I
The public is invited to join the Windsor Peace Coalition, the downtown artist studio, one ten park and members of Windsor’s Women in Black in commemorating the Centenary of the End of World War I at a weekend program of events linking Remembrance with the people’s demand at the end of that terrible war: Never Again!
Friday Movie Night
The program begins Friday evening at 7pm with a movie night and discussion at one ten park, located at 110 Park St. West. The film “Outskirts” is set in Russia during the war years 1914-17.
Saturday Never Again Anti-War Picket
On Saturday the Windsor Peace Coalition’s weekly anti-war picket from 11 am to noon will have as its theme Remembrance as Never Again! and what that means today. People are invited to join the picket at the corner of Tecumseh and Ouellette in front of the entrance to Jackson Park, and to bring a sign or banner with their own message for the occasion.
Sunday City of Windsor Remembrance Day Ceremony
Sunday the Peace Coalition will lay a wreath at the cenotaph at City Hall Square during the Legion’s Remembrance Day ceremony which begins at 11 am.
Sunday Never Again Open Studio Reception
Also on Sunday, following the Remembrance Day service there will be an Open Studio Reception from noon to 2 pm hosted by one ten park. The studio will have a window display titled Never Again and there will be a cultural program with poetry readings and other forms of remembrance.
