Adventure Bay Family Water Park Presented by the Windsor Family Credit Union celebrated its first birthday on Sunday, January 18, 2015. Mayor Drew Dilkens cut the ceremonial birthday cake with several city councilors in attendance.

Adventure Bay Birthday Celebration entertainment provided by Beebo had children smiling and dancing as guests enjoyed complimentary cake, cupcakes, hotdogs, and hot chocolate. The milestone one year anniversary event was organized in appreciations of the thousands of visitors who have utilized the facility since it opened.

Adventure Bay Family Water Park is part of the Family Aquatic Complex constructed by The City of Windsor. The Windsor Essex County Sports Hall of Fame and The Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre are also part of the complex.

The facility boasts an indoor pool that can accommodate world class diving, 50-metre, and 25-metre aquatic events. The 2013 International Children’s Games was the first to utilize the pools. This event garnered worldwide attention for Windsor and the world class swimming facility. In May elite divers from around the world will utilize The Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre as they compete in the F.I.N.A. Diving World Series 2015.

In addition to enjoying world class sporting events, locals and visitors to the region can enjoy sports displays honouring the 191 local athletes and builders inducted into the Essex County Sports Hall of Fame.

Of course making the biggest splash among local families and visitors is the activities available inside Adventure Bay Family Water Park.

The Wave Pool features a beach style entry and giant waves reaching heights of up to 1.5 meters. The Python carries up to 4 riders on an inner tube through a fast paced maze of twists and turns ending in a catch pool. The Whizzard is a three lane downhill race that goes outside the building and ends in a steep accelerating drop just before the finish line. The Master Blaster takes two rides on an inner tube through a roller coaster like water slide propelled by a jet stream of water.

The Adventure Bay Splash Zone features tipping buckets and jet streams of water among a tropical forest themed jungle gym. The Tot Loch is perfect for young children featuring mini tipping buckets of water and water slides. The Activity Pool is a place to relax and enjoy fun in a regular swimming pool. Children 12 years old and under will enjoy climbing through the three levels of Cannon Cove, a dry area featuring cannons that they can use to shoot foam balls through the air. The Lazy River is a single person relaxing tube ride that takes riders down the Adventure Bay river that runs through the facility.

One of the most popular attractions is the body boarding surf sensation known as the Flow Rider. Guests are challenged to surf and keep their balance as Flow Rider’s jet-propelled water waves blast away.

Over the past year Adventure Bay has hosted many birthday parties for children and their families. However, on January 18, 2015, the first year birthday celebration and cake-cutting ceremony was a tribute to Adventure Bay Family Water Park.

Since opening in January 2014 over 185,000 people have enjoyed Windsor’s Adventure Bay Family Water Park.
