The 19th Annual In Honour Of The Ones We Love (IOTOWE) Gala Dinner took place at the Ciociaro Club of Windsor on Saturday, February 4, 2017.
Each year the event pays tribute to individuals who have lost their battle with cancer and life threating illnesses during a touching candle lighting ceremony and memorial video.
This year’s candle lighting ceremony honoured the lives of Virginia and Antonina Moceri, Dennis Solet, Josh Krystia and Istvan Mojso. To conclued the ceremony the Memoriam Candle was lit by Mike and Annie Kisch. The Kish’s paid tribute to their son Holden in a past ceremony. The Memorial Candle represents all those who have passed away and have been celebrated in previous years during the gala.
Several awards were presented to members of the community who have actively played a role in the success of In Honour of The Ones We Love.

Hand in Hand Award: Robert and Carol Robinson of Windsor Life Magazine
Community Recognition Award: Mustapha Abdulhamid of Rafih Auto Group’s Lexus Division
The Community Recognition Award is preseted annually to an individual whose friendship, belief and support of In Honour over the years has contributed to the success of the event and projects for the community.
Tecumseh Mayor Gary MacNamara spoke during the event and presented a $2000 check, proceeds from his annual golf tournament, to In Honour.
One thousand people attended the event which sold out again this year to raise an estimated $350,000 plus.
A portion of proceeds from this year’s event will go towards the John McGivney Children’s Accessible Playground.
This high profile gala organized by Sergio and Anita Imperioli, co-founders of In Honour of the Ones We Love, their daughters Tina Caviedes and Laura Imperioli, and a group of dedicated volunteers supports cancer care and other life threating illnesses for patents in the Windsor Essex area.
Since 1998, In Honour of the Ones We Love, Inc. has established itself as one of Windsor Essex County’s most successful volunteer fundraising organizations. Since its inception the dedicated volunteers from this organization have raised more than $10,000,000 to improve local cancer patient care, including the creation and continuing support of the Honourable Little Ninja’s program – Kids Beating Cancer.
